Can insomnia increase risk of suicide?

A new study is suggesting that some sleep issues may increase a person’s risk of suicide.
Researchers at Georgia Health Sciences University say that nightmares or unconventional beliefs about sleep, like the thought of getting poor rest will have long-term effects, increase the risk of suicide in people who are depressed.
Study researcher Dr. W. Vaughn McCall said, "Insomnia can lead to a very specific type of hopelessness, and hopelessness by itself is a powerful predictor of suicide," noted MyHealthNewsDaily.
Overall, the study reports that the more a person experienced insomnia, the more an individual would express the desire to commit the deadly act.
